China Readjusts Export Rebates

China eliminates or lowers export rebates for 2 831 export items, effective July 1st, 2007. The involved items account for 37% of all export items. The Ministry of Finance announced on June 19th, 2007.China eliminates export tariff rebates for 553 codes of products with highly energy-consuming, serious pollution and resource-intensive, such as salt, regent oil, cement, liquefied propane / butane, liquefied petroleum gas, fertilizer, chlorine, dyestuffs, active carbon, leather and one-off wooden goods etc. China cuts down export tariff rebates for 2 268 codes of goods, described them as easily causing trade frictions, such as paper family, plastics and rubber products, chinaware, coke oven, furniture and viscose fiber etc.The exports for 10 codes of goods are free, effective July 1st 2007, including peanut kernel, canvas and stamp etc.The move is designed to control soaring exports and bloating favorable balance of trade, and promote China's economy sustainable development.
